SPATIAL MODELING OF URBAN LAND USE IN AL SHULA CITY USING GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Abstract

Urban land uses are considered among the basic issues of cities, and therefore these uses vary and are related to services in the city, as the population increase generates great pressure on these services. Therefore, the research problem was represented by, through an increase in population, the accompanying changes in land use and physical expansion, which leads to an increase in demand for community services. The research aims to study the reality of community services and the extent of their conformity with the physical expansion standards and the extent of their conformity with planning standards. This was demonstrated by studying the reality of land uses for services in the study area (Al-Shuala City), measuring them, and analyzing the impact of the physical expansion on those services. Finally, the research was conducted and a number of conclusions were reached, the most important of which was the study area, clearly agreed upon deficit and actual need for community services. The research recommended, we need to adopt sustainable urban planning methods, change some land uses, and move them in and out of the city
