Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı sağlığın sosyal belirleyicisi olarak eğitimin ülkelerin sağlık statüleri üzerindeki etkisini saptamak, eğitim ile sağlık arasındaki ilişkiye yeni kanıtlar sunmaktır. Sağlığın sosyal belirleyicisi olarak eğitim yapısına ilişkin kullanılan göstergeler; zorunlu eğitim süresi, kamu harcamaları içinde eğitim harcamaların yüzdesi ve GSMH payı içinde eğimin yüzdesi olarak belirlenmiştir. Sağlık statüsüne ilişkin göstergeler ise anne ölüm oranı, bebek ölüm hızı ve doğuştan beklenen yaşam süresidir. İlgili göstergelere ilişkin veriler Dünya Bankası verilerinden elde edilmiştir. Buna göre toplamda 137 ülke ve özerk yönetim bölgesi üzerinden yapılan çalışma sonuçlarına göre eğitim göstergeleri ile sağlık statüsü arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ilişkilerin bulunduğu ve eğitim yapısına ilişkin göstergelerin her üçünün de sağlık statüsü göstergelerinin önemli birer yordayıcısı olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Zorunlu eğitim süresi, GSMH payı içinde eğimin yüzdesi ve kamu harcamaları içinde eğitim harcamaların yüzdesinin anne ölüm oranı üzerindeki toplam varyansın %20,9’unu; bebek ölüm oranındaki toplam varyansın %,29,1’ini ve doğuştan beklenen yaşam süresindeki toplam varyansın %27,8’ini açıladığı tespit edilmiştir.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of education, as a social determinant of health, on the health status of countries and to present new evidence on the relationship between education and health. Indicators used regarding the education structure as a social determinant of health; The duration of compulsory education is determined as the Percentage of Education Expenditures in public expenditures and the percentage of slope in GNP share. Indicators of health status are maternal mortality rate, infant mortality rate and life expectancy at birth. Data on relevant indicators were obtained from World Bank data. Accordingly, according to the results of the study conducted in a total of 137 countries and autonomous administrative regions, it was determined that there were statistically significant relationships between education indicators and health status, and all three indicators related to the education structure were important predictors of health status indicators. It was determined that the duration of compulsory education, the Percentage of Slope in GNP Share and the Percentage of Education Expenditures in Public Expenditures explained 20.9% of the total variance on the maternal mortality rate, 29.1% of the total variance in infant mortality rate and 27.8% of the total variance in life expectancy at birth.
