Abstract

THE ADVENTURES OF TEACHERS WHO TEACHING TURKISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE: A NARRATIVE STUDY
In this study, the opinions and thoughts of Turkish teachers working in Turkey and abroad on the problems they encounter in teaching Turkish as a foreign language were examined. In the study, the "narrative research" method, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The main goal in narrative research is to examine the stories that the narrated individuals produce about their experiences. In the aim of the questions directed to ten teachers participating in the research, the problems encountered in the process of teaching Turkish as a foreign language were examined. In the research; The main questions were determined as the teachers' thoughts of seeing themselves competent in teaching Turkish to foreigners, the difficulties encountered in teaching the alphabet in foreign language teaching, and the most difficult ones in acquiring the four basic skills. Apart from these, answers were sought for eight questions such as "materials used in teaching Turkish to foreigners, students' level of interest in Turkish language and culture, advantages or disadvantages experienced in learning Turkish by native speakers, the level of reflection of Turkish culture in the books used in teaching Turkish to foreigners".
