Abstract

TEACHER CANDIDATES’ FOR PUBLIC PERSONNEL SELECTION VIEWS ON THE EXAM (KPSS)
In this study, it was aimed to determine the views of prospective teachers towards the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS). The study is a descriptive study in the survey model. In the theoretical framework of the study, the literature on the subject was utilised. The data were collected through the "Opinion Questionnaire on KPSS" form developed by the researchers. The questionnaire form was applied to 432 prospective teachers from various age groups, graduation status, gender and number of exam entries who were preparing for the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS). In the questionnaire, which has a Likert-type scale, a five-point rating scale was used. Frequency and percentage calculations were made to analyse the data. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS) is an important obstacle that prospective teachers have to overcome and that it has negative effects on their psychology and social lives. In addition, more than half of the pre-service teachers thought that the average of undergraduate graduation should be included in the calculation along with KPSS as an appointment criterion. Various suggestions were made based on the results obtained from the research. The results obtained from the research were discussed in line with the relevant literature.
