Özet
Cumhuriyet ilan edildikten sonra, Türk kültürünü canlandırmak ve Türk milletinin bilinçlenmesini sağlamak için yurdun dört bir yanında çalışmalar başlatılmıştır. Şüphesiz ki bu çalışmaların en önemlilerinden biri halkevlerinin açılmasıdır. Halkevlerinin bünyesinde barındırdığı bütün bölümler halkın eğitiminde önemli rol oynamıştır. Bu bölümlerin can damarı kütüphanelerdir. Bu nedenle kütüphanelere seçilen eserler, oluşturulan komisyonlar tarafından titizlikle incelenmiş ve uygun görülen eserler kabul edilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, 1933-1948 yılları arasında Halkevleri kütüphanelerine seçilen bu eserlerin seçilme kriterlerini tespit etmektir. Çalışmanın bu amacına yönelik olarak Başbakanlık Cumhuriyet Arşivi’nde yer alan eserler incelenmiştir. Bu çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi, veri tekniği olarak ise belgesel tarama tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonunda yurdu ilgilendiren işleri ve konuları halka, bilhassa köylüye okutmak, anlatmak ve yaptırtmak amacı güden halkevleri kütüphanelerine seçilen eserlerin ortak temalarının “millî folklor, millî spor, Türk ruhu, vatan, millet, köy hayatı, öz Türkçe, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, cumhuriyet ve salgın hastalıklar” olduğu tespit edilmiştir

Abstract
After the declaration of the Republic, campaigns were started all over the country to revive the Turkish culture and to raise awareness of the Turkish nation. Undoubtedly, one of the most important of these studies was the opening of the People's Houses. All the sections of People's Houses played an important role in the education of the people. The most vital sections of People’s Houses were the lifelong libraries. For this reason, the works selected for the libraries were carefully examined by the created commissions and the works considered suitable were accepted. The purpose of this study was to determine the selection criteria of these works for the Public Houses libraries between 1933 and 1948. In this frame, the works in the Prime Ministry Republic Archive were examined. In this study, qualitative research method was used and document examining technique was applied for data technique. As a result of the research, it was determined that the common themes of the works chosen for the libraries of the People's Houses, the aim of which was to enable the people, in particular the villagers, to read and understand the items related to nation, include national folklore, national sports, Turkish spirit, homeland, nation, village life, and epidemic diseases.
