Özet
Günümüz eğitim sisteminde barış eğitimine katkı sağlayacak derslerin başında sosyal bilgiler dersi gelmektedir. Sosyal bilgiler dersinin amacı, bireylerin bakış açılarını genişleterek onların iyi vatandaş ve toplum içerisinde iyi insan olmalarını sağlamaktır. Sosyal bilgiler dersi aracılığıyla barış eğitimi ile ilgili temel bilgi, beceri, kavram ve tutumlar öğrencilere kazandırılabilir ( Carter, 2004). Sosyal bilgiler dersinde barış eğitiminin gerçekleşmesinde önemli bir faktör de sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleridir. Bu çalışmanın amacı sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin barış eğitimi hakkındaki görüşlerini belirlemek ve sosyal bilgiler derslerinde barış eğitiminin önemini ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel yöntem kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2014- 2015 eğitim öğretim yılında İzmir’in Menemen İlçesinde görev yapan ve tesadüfü örneklem yöntemiyle seçilen 12 sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma verileri yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat formu aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Mülakat verileri aracılığıyla toplanan bulgular, içerik analizi yöntemiyle çözümlenmiş ve elde edilen veriler frekans, yüzde ve doğrudan alıntılarla birlikte tablo haline getirilip yorumlanmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler; sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin barış eğitimi hakkındaki görüşleri, öğretmenlerin sosyal bilgiler derslerinin barış eğitimine uygunluğu ve sosyal bilgiler müfredatının barış eğitimi için yeterliliği hakkındaki görüşleri temaları altında toplanmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin barış eğitimi, barış eğitiminin önemi ve sosyal bilgiler derslerinin barış eğitimindeki yeri hakkında genel bir bilgiye sahip olduğu anlaşılmaktadır.

Abstract
Within today’s education system, social sciences is the leading lesson which contributes to peace education. The aim of social sciences is to broaden people’s viewpoints and to make them good citizens, good people. Through social sciences, basic knowledge, skills, notions, and attitudes about peace education can be conveyed (Carter, 2004). Another important factor for peace education in social sciences is social science teachers. The aim of this study is to state opinions of the social science teachers about peace education and to reveal importance of peace education in social sciences. Descriptive method, which is one of the qualitative research methods, is used in the study. Twelve social science teachers, who are chosen with random sampling method and who work in Menemen, İzmir during 2014-2015 academic year, constitude the working group. Datas of the research are collected through semi- structured interview form. Findings are analysed by content analysis method and interpreted after being tabularized with frequency, percentage, and quotations. The datas of study are categorized under themes such as opinions of the social science teachers about peace education, suitability of social sciences to peace education and sufficiency of social science syllabus to peace education. According to the findings, it is understood that the social science teachers hava a general knowledge about peace education, the important of peace education and the place of social sciences in peace education.
