Özet
The current research aims to identify self-regulation skills and its relationship to problem solving among fourth-stage students in the Science Department at the College of Basic Education. The research sample was of (206) male and female students from the fourth-stage Science Department in the College of Basic Education at Al- Mustansiriya University for the first course of the academic year ( 2023-2024), and to achieve the objectives of the current research, the researcher prepared two tools, the first of which is a self- regulation scale , which consists of (20) items distributed equally over five fields . The items are evenly distributed over (4) paragraphs for each field, with (5) answer alternatives for each item. The fields of the scale were (self-planning skill, self-monitoring skill, self- instruction skill, skill Self-enhancement, self-evaluation skill) and the second one is problem solving scale, which consists of (20) items distributed over five fields, which are (Feeling the problem, defining the problem, collecting data, testing solutions and choosing the best solution, arriving at results and generalizing them.) There are (4) paragraphs for each field, and each paragraph has four answer alternatives. After extracting the reliability and validity of each of the two scales, the researcher applied the research to the sample of the current research, and the results showed that the sample possessed very good self-organization skills and also possessed problem-solving skills, with no significant differences. Statistical significance for both genders. The results also showed a very strong and positive correlation between the self-regulation variable and the problem- solving variable. In light of these results, the researcher formulated some recommendations, conclusions and proposals.
