Abstract
INTERSOPOUSAL VIOLENCE AND RELIGION: THE ROLE OF MEN IN PREVENTING VIOLENCE
Domestic violence is a serious problem that to under consideration in this century. Previous studies on domestic violence point out family life are under negative condition and domestic violence is pervasive in society. Violence is a topic which has been interested social scientist in recent years, despite all that has been written about violence, there remain several unresolved issues concerning its definitions, dimensions and with relationship religion and traditions. Therefore, this study examines definitions of violence, discussion of violence theories, perception of violence, individual differences. Couple violence that examined physical, economic, sexual, psychological, and verbal dimensions and this study based idea that investigated effects religion on couple violence. Domestic violence exists in different socio-economic, religious, cultures and societies and affects a range of relationships family members and other groups. Family violence is not limited to women. Men can be abused as well. There are so many fallacies and false belief systems relating to couple violence. Essentially, religion is not to give permission violence between couples and other peoples. Couple violence may be equally expressed by either partner in the relationship. Therefore, couple violence is mutual and double dimension. Religion interferes with as effects on emergence to couple violence as problem of marriage and fragmentation of the family and other negative situations.
