Abstract


EXAMINATION OF LISTENING-WATCHING TEXTS IN 5TH GRADE TURKISH TEXTBOOK IN TERMS OF VOCATIONAL EXISTENCE
Human communication is mostly done with language. Vocabulary of a language is one of the important parts of effective communication. Vocabulary begins to form with the words that people hear from birth; continues to expand in the environment, family and school. Schools, in particular, provide a more systematic development of the vocabulary of Turkish lessons. Turkish textbooks are one of the basic tools in the process of transferring vocabulary elements. Turkish textbooks play an important role in line with the achievements of "developing vocabulary" in the Turkish Curriculum. Turkish textbooks; consists of reading, listening-watching texts and activities. Vocabulary of students is developed with listening texts as well as with reading texts. In this study, the vocabulary and frequency of words in the listening and watching texts in the 5th Grade Turkish Textbook were examined, and suggestions were presented to enrich the vocabulary. According to the results of the research, 2151 total vocabulary and 846 different vocabulary were determined. In the theme texts; 1258 names, 458 different names; 251 verbs, 125 different verbs; 230 gerunds, 177 different gerunds; 145 preposition-conjunction, 23 different preposition-conjunction; 10 total and different reduplications; 35 idioms, 34 different idioms; 92 special names, 42 different special names; 4 different and total dates; 4 total and different exclamation points; 2 total and different proverbs; There are 5 total, 3 different reflections. No stereotypes were used in the listening and watching texts.
