Abstract

MİHRİ MÜŞFİK AND HALE ASAF; BOHEMIA ART LIVES WHOSE WORTHS ARE UNPAID
As an aunt and niece, Mihri Müşfik and Hale Asaf are the first women representative of painting art in Turkey. Both led hard lives in their own country and their lives ended up tragically abroad. Mihri Müşfik went to Roma, giving up the Directorate of Girl Art Academy and there lived with Gabriele D’Annunzio, who was the famous poet of Italian Fascism. Hale Asaf, on the other hand, became lover of Antonio Aniante, who settled down in Paris after escaping from Italian Fascism. These concubinages, which look like ordinary, are remarkable in terms of including some complicated and complex situations. These tumultuous and contradictory relationships in both women artist’s lives left their mark on their daily lives. This article aims to shed light on their opposite individual behaviours and their concurrent relationships which are the first prototypes of the attitude of independent and free artist.
