Abstract

INVESTIGATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PROFESSİONAL BURNOUT LEVELS AND ORGANIZATIONAL CYNICISM ACCORDİNG TO SECONDARY SCHOOLS TEACHERS’ PERCEPTIONS
In this study, teachers' professional burnout levels and their perceptions of organizational cynicism were investigated. The relational screening model was used in this study. The universe of this study consists of teachers working in secondary schools in the central districts of Erzurum (Yakutiye, Palandöken, Azizye) in the 2017 - 2018 academic year. In the collection of research data, convenience sampling is used from non-random sample methods. The Occupational Burnout Scale, which was developed by Maslach and Jackson (1981) and adapted to Turkish by Ergin (1992), and Organizational Cynicism Scale ,which was developed by Luczywek (2007) and adapted to Turkish by Gündüz (2017), were used. The following findings were obtained. Teachers' perceptions of professional burnout and organizational cynicism differ according to variables such as gender, type of school, education level and seniority. There are significant and positive relationships between teachers' professional burnout levels and the cynicism they have experienced. Personal inadequacy levels of teachers significantly predict organizational cynicism perceptions and when the levels of professional burnout increase, the level of cynicism they have experienced increases.
